Jodi Rell to Mrs.Connecticut 2008, Lynnette Letsky Piombo of Waterbury, recognizing the importance of volunteerism. As the reigning Mrs. Connecticut 2008, Mrs. Piombo is working to raise awareness of the importance of volunteering. Her platform for the year is the importance of community service and volunteerism. She has been endorsed as the statewide spokesperson for Volunteermatch.org and is speaking with area organizations on how they may enlarge their volunteer bases. Rep. DelGobbo said he is honored to help promote Mrs. Connecticut's efforts in support of volunteerism. "Volunteer efforts in communities across the state do amazing things to enhance the quality of life for people young and old," said Rep. DelGobbo. "More importantly, they also provide critical life-saving services." "My service in state government makes me realize that these dedicated volunteer efforts can do more than government could ever hope to accomplish," Rep. DelGobbo added. Rep. DelGobbo has long been active in civic and community service. He volunteers as president of the United Way of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls and vice president of the Naugatuck YMCA, as well as being involved in numerous school and community organizations. Gov. M. Jodi Rell has declared April as National Volunteer Month in Connecticut.
